Make Your Own Hats : Of course you can!
If you have always wanted to learn to make your own headpieces, and hats, love going to the races, need hats for Sun Care, or are simply fascinated by the millinery process then this is the workshop for you.
Using time honoured traditional millinery skills you can choose make 1-2 Hats, a fascinator, or Headpiece, Pillbox, or Curvette, Headbands, Millinery Trims, and techniques for working with some of our quality millinery materials.
This class is jam packed with skills for both a budding Milliner and/or Hatter. Using wooden hat blocks you will learn to analyse blocks to create various stlyes and shapes of hats, learn classic blocking techniques to shape and mould your hat and learn to stiffen to requirements, wire, and bind edges, and finish your hat or headpieces appropriately. We also cover how to choose a hat to suit your face shape and body type, and the elements and principles of design for Hatmaking.
Catherine helps to tailor the programme to suit your particular skills, and requirements. This course is suitable for all levels of milliners. The class is also suitable for HSC students.
The course fee does not include materials as the range of projects ranges considerably however we do provide use of blocks, stiffening, wire, and some sample materials. Further details will be sent upon booking for the class and the opportunity to discuss project options.
